I want you to write a seven page term paper that functions as a prospectus for an Internet related company or industry. What are the prospects for this company or industry, and how will current or proposed government regulations and legislation have an impact on it?
The paper should grapple with at least two laws and/or regulations, and the overall conditions the business or industry faces.
Possible subjects include:
A social networking site like Facebook or Buzz (or a social networking aggregation service like Fring)
A video service like Youtube.com or NetFlix
The iPhone or a major Android release like the Droid
Any major app found on the iPhone or Android
Any Internet Service Provider (Comcast; AT&T; Verizon; Sprint; T-Mobile)
A big open source program like Firefox, WordPress, or Ubuntu Linux
A music service like Pandora, Last.fm, or iTunes
A major application like BitTorrent
A VoIP service like Skype
You get the idea. I want to see much of your research come from government opinions and reports. The rest can come from books, journals, or news and opinion articles. Please consult with me about ideas, but not ask me where to find sources. First, do some research yourself.
You should use footnotes based on the Politics department’s requirements for this paper, which is due the last day of lectures.
