About
Welcome to my website, an all purpose guide to my online writings, courses, and other doings. You are confused or amused by the name of the blog, maybe. A “vicus” was an ancient Roman town, usually situated near a fort or military installation, where the troops could go for a taste of civil society. There they found taverns and similar entertainment. Regional courts and regulatory agencies often established themselves in these places as well.
I write a lot about the activities of modern day vici, inasmuch as they regulate and make laws for media transmitted by wires. Hence, wirevicus. You can find my stuff at arstechnica.com and radiosurvivor.com. But this is the place to be if you want the gestalt of me. I’ve also been known to podcast the wisdom of my friends and take photographs of murals, and those will pop up here as well from time to time. I’m on facebook and twitter, of course. Feel free to register with the site and say hello to me as you wish.
Thanks for visiting! Matthew Lasar
